The following year a few prospecting parties are noted in the area, but gold found was in short supply. Westhead and Dwyer (surnames) found 500 ounces of specimen stone in 1917, by sinking the shaft further. The lease was re-pegged by Sheehan (surname), but when visited in October 1901, the lease was deserted. A shaft was sunk but no gold was found at depth. Smith and Fish obtained 7000 pounds worth money wise in a few weeks, within 8 feet of the surface. By 1901, they were on a nearby patch, with gold scattered over a wide area. The alluvial miners were either finding slugs or nothing. Soon eighty men were working the area as an alluvial gold rush. The track heads due south for about 5 kilometres, when an east-west cross track is reached. It is the third track south, if travelling west from the Bulong-Curtin Road and Trans Australian Railway Line Road intersection. Locating it in the woodland is difficult with many tracks.
